Beach Scouts Program

This program is designed for campers who have attended at least three camps in the Junior Lifeguard Program and are looking to gain a new perspective of the camp. The Beach Scouts are expected to assist throughout a full week-long camp session as a safety in the water, helping set up games and competition courses as well as having a good time. In addition to attending the camp, Beach Scouts can attribute their time at these camps to volunteer hours they may need for school, scholarships and/or church groups.  Age for the Beach Scouts Program is not a limitation this year. We need help of all ages.

Anyone interested in enrolling their child as a Beach Scout must first email jrlifeguard@co.volusia.fl.us with the following to determine if their eligibility.

1. How many years  or camps your child has attended the Junior Lifeguard Program

2. Their name and age

3. Their qualities that would make them a good Beach Scout

The Beach Scouts are required to commit to a minimum of:

• At least 1 try-out session for our New Junior Lifeguard Campers

• At least 1 week-long camp session over the summer

Both the Try out dates and times as well as the Camp dates and times are listed below.

Tuition for the Beach Scouts is a flat rate of $150 (check or cash). This is for their attendance to 1 or all the camps they decide to volunteer for. They receive the same package as the Junior Lifeguards, however, Beach Scouts wear a red rash guard instead of yellow, to differentiate.

Camp dates
9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday through Friday
Students can be dropped off between 8 - 9 a.m.

• Week 1: June 11 - 15 - Frank Rendon Park
• Week 2: June 18 - 22 - Frank Rendon Park
• Week 3: June 25 - 29 - New Smyrna Beach Lifeguard Station
• Week 4: July 9 - 13 - Frank Rendon Park
• Week 5: July 16 - 20 - Frank Rendon Park

Frank Rendon Park is at 2705 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach Shores
(about two miles north of Dunlawton Boulevard)
