To Build Or Not To Build
Growth and Resource Management

8 a.m.- 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009

Day 7 begins with a tour via "eco buggy" of one of the County's conservation properties, Longleaf Pine Preserve. Then we'll head west to Bicentennial Youth Park for lunch and learning about the environment, finishing our day at the Historic Courthouse with presentations related to how we manage growth so as to protect our quality of life.

Meet at:
Longleaf Pine Preserve
State Road 44 between DeLand and New Smyrna Beach

Map (PDF format)

Directions: Our entrance is an orange gate on State Road 44 between DeLand and New Smyrna Beach at the intersection of Pioneer Trail. Driving east from DeLand, the gate will be on the left (north side) and you must drive to the next pass-through to make a U-turn.

From Daytona Beach, take I-95 (State Road 44 exit, 249B) or Pioneer Trail to S.R. 44 west towards DeLand. If you take Pioneer Trail, you'll notice an entrance to the Preserve, but ignore it. Our entrance is at the very end of the merge onto S.R. 44 on the right side of the road.
