Lighthouse Point Park Dune Planting
Atlantic High School special needs students, in cooperation with the Atlantic High Horticulture Department, University of Florida/Volusia County Extensino and Volusia County Environmental Management recently planted several hundred coastal dune plants at Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet. The project was funded through a grant from the Volusia County Tree Replacement Trust Account, which provides small grants for the planting of native trees and plants in Volusia County. The project was a great success and the students learned basic horticultural skills as well as the value of our fragile coastal ecosystem.
