Volusia County utility rate increase

The current Volusia County utility rate schedule provides for an automatic two-time 2% sewer rate adjustment to be enacted in May 2012 and May 2013. New rate schedules can be viewed by accessing the appropriate category listed below.

Background Information
A summary of the rate increase is provided in tables specific to the two utility service groups. To view the table specific to your address, please identify the area you are in, then click on the linked heading. If you receive water and/or sewer service from a city utility, this rate increase does not apply to you.

Softened includes customers located in the Spruce Creek service area, Halifax Plantation service area and Southeast (Edgewater/Oak Hill) service area, all located in east Volusia County.

Unsoftened includes customers located in the DeBary service area, Deltona North service area, Pine Island service area, and New Hope, Seville service area, located in west Volusia County.

Reclaimed water is currently available only in DeBary in the following areas: portions of DeBary Golf and Country Club, portions of Glen Abbey and Saxon Woods. Reclaimed water is available in Arbor Ridge, Deltona.

Future adjustments. The Volusia County utility rate schedule provides for an automatic rate adjustment equal to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus 1%, enacted Oct. 1 of each year. The rate increase also includes a two time, 2% increase in the charges for sewer, and are proposed to go into effect May 1, 2012, and May 1, 2013. Click a link below to view the table that shows how the sewer adjustment (and 2011 and 2012 CPI plus 1% adjustments) will impact a customer with 5,000 gallons of usage per month in all three usage groups.

Wastewater (Sewer) Utility Service - Volusia County Utilities treats approximately 2 million gallons of wastewater each day. The utility operates and maintains 9 sewer treatment plants, 108 sewer pumping stations, and 187 miles of sewer pipelines.
