Compost/Xeriscape Demonstration Parks

Demonstration parks have been developed to provide education on reducing yard waste through "common sense" landscaping. They are at:

  • Volusia County Agricultural Center, DeLand
  • Deltona Regional Library
  • Bicentennial Park, Ormond-by-the-Sea
  • Volusia County Library Center - City Island, Daytona Beach (children's entrance).

Composting
Composting is a simple way of converting yard waste and kitchen vegetable scraps into a nutrient rich soil additive called compost. But composting doesn't stop at helping your gardens. It also reduces your residential trash by as much as one third.

Contact the Master Gardener Program at the Volusia County/University of Florida Extension for answers to your composting questions.

For more information, please contact the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension at 386-257-6012 in Daytona Beach; 386-822-5778 in West Volusia, or 386-423-3368 in New Smyrna Beach.
