DELTONA MAN SHOT IN LEG
The Volusia County Sheriff’s
Office is investigating a Tuesday evening shooting in
Deltona that sent a 31-year-old man to the hospital with
a gunshot wound to his leg. Deputies responded to the
scene to search for the suspects, but due to a 45-minute
time lapse in reporting the incident and the victim not
knowing who the suspects were, no one was found. A
friend drove the victim to Florida Hospital Fish
Memorial in Orange City where he received treatment for
his non-life threatening wound. No other injuries were
reported.
The Sheriff’s Office
received a call at about 6:51 p.m. from the hospital
emergency room reporting that Kenneth Marrow had come in
with a gunshot wound to his leg. Marrow later told
deputies that he was walking on Sagamore Drive when a
car slowly drove by him and a passenger stared at him.
The car continued down the road, but a few minutes later
three men on foot confronted Marrow, and Marrow
recognized one of them as the man who had originally
stared at him from the passing car. The men questioned
Marrow about what he was wearing, claiming that the
color of his clothes made it look like he was
impersonating being a gang member. Marrow told deputies
that he then offered to remove his shirt and hat. As he
lifted up his shirt, one man took a handgun out of his
pocket and fired one shot at Marrow. The suspects and
victim then ran away in opposite directions. Once Marrow
realized he had been shot in the right leg, he called a
friend to pick him up and take him to the hospital.
Marrow said that he didn’t
know the suspects and had never seen them before. The
shooter was described as a Hispanic man with very short
hair, in his early twenties, 6’ tall and about 180
pounds. He was last seen wearing a red, black and white
collared shirt and jeans. The second suspect is a
Hispanic man in his early twenties, 5’7” tall and about
185 pounds. He has a tattoo of a dagger and snake on his
right forearm. He was last seen wearing a white tank top
and blue shorts. The third suspect was in his teens,
5’4” tall and about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing
a gray hooded sweatshirt and shorts.
