NEW, IMPROVED ONLINE CATALOG IS LIVE!
Volusia County’s public libraries has upgraded their online catalog
and databases to improve services to patrons.
With the new system, which went live Sept. 15, library card holders
can go online to reserve items, change contact information, check their
financial history, and request e-mail notification when the library adds
materials by a favorite author or about a particular subject.
According to Library Services Director Lucinda Colee, the most
noticeable change is the enhancement of the online catalog, SurfCat.
Patrons will be able to search for materials by branch and access “quick
reservation lists” of new fiction, DVD or audiobook titles.
A children’s catalog will be introduced in October along with New
York Times bestseller lists that will connect directly to the titles in
the libraries’ catalog for quick reservations.
