FIRE SERVICES RESPONDS TO STRUCTURE FIRE
Firefighters with Volusia County Fire Services responded to a structure
fire at 1850 Tanglewood Dr., near Orange City, in the early morning
hours Saturday, Aug. 20.
The call
came in at 4:47 a.m. and Station 32, located north of Orange City,
quickly responded with Engines 32 and 31, Tanker 35, Squad 35, Battalion
30 and Division 12.
When
firefighters arrived on scene, they found a two-bedroom, concrete,
single-family home with light smoke coming from the eaves of the home.
There were no occupants in the home, however there were reports of pit
bulls being on the premises. The pit bulls were found safely outside.
The
firefighters made a forced entry because the home was locked, and
quickly made an interior attack. They were able to confine the fire to
the bathroom, where it is believed to have started, and extinguish it
quickly.
The
firefighters then used thermal imaging gear to locate and clear any
potential hot spots. There were no injuries to the firefighters. The
damage to the home is estimated to be less than $5,000. The fire is
currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
