VOLUSIA COUNTY PET VET CRUISER TAKES APPOINTMENTS

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4, residents in unincorporated Volusia County can schedule an appointment for their pet to be spayed or neutered on the County’s new Pet Vet Cruiser.

The Pet Vet Cruiser, operated by Volusia County Animal Control Services, is a state-of-the-art mobile clinic that offers residents in unincorporated Volusia County free and low-cost spaying and neutering for pets of low-income families. As part of the service, these families will receive rabies vaccine and licensing.

Appointments can be made from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Friday by calling (386) 323-3575 (Daytona Beach), (386) 626-6643 (DeLand) or (386) 424-6875 (New Smyrna Beach).

According to Becky Wilson, director of Volusia County Animal Control Services, the cruiser will begin performing surgeries in October. Appointments made in September will be handled on a first-come, first basis.

Residents seeking free or low cost pet spaying and neutering must show proof of public assistance such as Medicaid, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) or food stamp identification card. For low cost services, residents must show proof of income. Residents who receive Medicaid or food stamp benefits, or are on the County’s Social Services roster, also qualify for this service.
