TWO FIREFIGHTERS INJURED IN DELAND HOUSE FIRE
Firefighters from Volusia County Fire Services and the DeLand Fire
Department responded to a house fire at 406 Cross St., DeLand, at 6:40
p.m. today. The home is in an unincorporated area about four blocks east
of 17-92.
When firefighters arrived, they found that the single-family home was
50-percent involved and that the occupants had escaped safely.
EVAC Ambulance transported one DeLand firefighter to Florida Hospital
DeLand with an ankle injury. A second DeLand firefighter was treated on
the scene for a heat-related condition.
According to Volusia County Fire Services Division Chief Paul Ebanks,
the home is a total loss. The state fire marshal will investigate the
fire's cause.
