River of Lakes group schedules
community visioning workshops Jan. 18 and 20
The River of Lakes Heritage Corridor
Scenic Highway Corridor Management Entity will seek input from residents
and businesses during two community visioning workshops. The meetings
will be from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at the Lions Club, 4949
Billings Ave., DeLeon Springs; and 6:30 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in
the Pioneer Settlement for the Creative Arts auditorium at 1776
Lightfoot Lane, Barberville.
The workshops will be led by Dan Manley,
project manager for the consulting firm Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin.
Participants will be asked to share their thoughts about rural community
character and develop a future vision for their community.
The River of Lakes group is working with
the Florida Department of Transportation to develop a community vision
plan for DeLeon Springs, Barberville, Pierson and Seville. The plan will
address community improvements related to pedestrian safety and traffic;
land-use and planning recommendations to maintain the rural community
character; and signage and landmark recognition along the River of Lakes
Heritage Corridor Scenic Highway, which includes U.S. Highways 17 and
17-92 in Volusia County.
In accordance with the Americans with
Disabilities Act and Florida statutes, persons with disabilities who
need special accommodation to participate in the proceedings should
request assistance at least two days before the meeting.
