PEDIATRIC AND ADULT PRIMARY CARE
TRANSITIONS FROM THE VOLUSIA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO
NORTHEAST FLORIDA HEALTH SERVICES, INC. DELTONA
Northeast Florida Health Services, Inc. Deltona will open a new primary
care clinic, 2160 Howland Blvd., at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20 to provide
medical services to citizens in the Deltona area.
With the opening of this clinic, the Volusia County Health Department
has discontinued pediatric and adult primary care services at its
Deltona clinic. Patients have been notified to find new health care
providers and transfer their medical records.
The Volusia County Health Department’s clinic in Deltona has moved to
3151 Howland Blvd. and continues to offer childhood and adult
immunizations, family planning, school physicals, testing and treatment
for tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS, hepatitis
screening, the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection
Program, and more.
The change in primary care providers is the result of a decision by
the West Volusia Hospital Authority to discontinue its contract with the
health department and sign on with Northeast Florida Health Services,
Inc. (NEFHS), a federally qualified health system that serves west
Volusia County.
“It is important for clients to make sure they continue to receive
health care during this transition of pediatric and adult primary care
services,” said Volusia County Health Department Director Dr. Tom
Coleman.
Northeast Florida Health Services, Inc. Deltona will offer primary
care for adults and children, immunizations, physicals, family planning,
sexually transmitted disease and HIV/AIDS testing and treatment.
Northeast Florida Health Services, Inc. also operates the Pierson
Medical Center, 114 N. Volusia Ave., and the DeLand Medical Center, 844
W. Plymouth Ave.
Health department clients who wish to transfer their care to the
NEFHS Deltona should call (386) 532-0515 to schedule an appointment. The
new provider accepts all patients, including those with Medicaid and
clinic cards. It also accepts private pay and most insurance plans.
Patients who have not done so should call the health department at
(386) 789-7507 to have their medical records transferred to NEFHS
Deltona or another doctor's office.
To schedule an appointment for services at the Volusia County Health
Department’s Deltona clinic, please call (386) 789-7507 or (386)
789-7508 (Spanish).
The Volusia County Health Department also operates the Orange City
clinic, 1061 Medical Center Drive, Suite 100, and the Women’s Health
Services clinic at 931 N. Spring Garden Ave., DeLand.
Woman Infant and Children (WIC) and Nutrition Services are offered in
DeLand at 927-A N. Spring Garden Ave., (386) 822-6223 (Spanish (386)
943-7724); and in Deltona at 1555 Saxon Blvd., Suite 103, (386)
860-7150. Citizens also can call (866) WIC-FOOD for more information.
This transition means the health department is no longer offering
pediatric and adult primary care services in west Volusia County. The
health department’s Orange City clinic transitioned out of these
services this spring. Additional information about the transition of
primary care in west Volusia is posted online at
