Children's art program offered at
three libraries in November
Children ages 6 - 10 can find their inner
artist at three public libraries in November, thanks to a free program
sponsored by the Museum of Florida Art in DeLand and the Volusia County
Public Library system.
Pam Coffman, the museum’s curator of
education, will help children create an oil-pastel landscape drawing and
tell stories about the St. Johns River region to connect them with the
museum’s current exhibitions, “The Liquid Muse: Paintings from the St.
Johns Region,” “Prehistoric Presence: Alligators and the American
Landscape” and “Nousphere.”
Programs will be offered at:
- 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5,
at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. Pre-registration is
not required.
1 - 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7,
at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway. Call
(386) 424-2910, ext. 111, to pre-register.
3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10,
at the Volusia County Library Center-City Island, Daytona Beach. Call
(386) 257-6036 to pre-register.
The activities are part of the new StArt
(Stories and Art) program, which offers children’s art activities,
exhibition-themed stories and library reading lists.
