AMNESTY OFFERED FOR HOUSEHOLD CHEMICAL DISPOSAL NOVEMBER 12-13

Volusia County Solid Waste and Recycling are giving a break to residents with paint, used oils, pesticides, fluorescent lamps, car batteries and cleaning chemicals lurking in their garages or homes.

Safe disposal or recycling of household hazardous waste is free during Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty Days, November 12 and 13. Materials that could contaminate groundwater or pose a threat to the environment if disposed of improperly may be taken to:

  • Plymouth Avenue Landfill, 1991 Plymouth Ave., DeLand, Friday, November 12, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • New Smyrna Beach Public Works, 124 Industrial Park, New Smyrna Beach, Saturday, November 13, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Only non-mixed household hazardous waste is accepted.

Insulin users may drop off their needles in approved containers (containers will not be replaced or returned). Businesses are not eligible for free disposal during Amnesty Days.

Tomoka Landfill in Daytona Beach and the West Volusia Transfer Station in DeLand accept household hazardous waste year-round, free. For information, please call Volusia County Solid Waste at (386) 947-2952.
