Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International
Airport decreased 8 percent in September 2009, compared with the same
month last year. Airport officials said the September passenger-traffic
figure represents great improvement over traffic for most previous
months of 2009, which reflected decreases of 30 percent or more.
During September, 26,941 passengers traveled
through Daytona Beach International Airport, compared with 29,207
travelers recorded in September 2008.
For the past 12 months, 422,851 passengers
traveled through the county-operated airport, representing a 34-percent
decrease over the same 12-month period last year when 638,741 travelers
were recorded.
In support of increasing passenger traffic, DBIA
officials have engaged in a regional marketing campaign, titled “Just
Plane Easy,” to remind residents of the ease and convenience offered by
the airport and to encourage patronage.
