SEXUAL BATTERY SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF IN

Wanted in connection to a violent sexual attack in DeLeon Springs on Aug. 16 and the robbery of a grocery store in Pierson, Elias Carbajal turned himself in to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office at about 4:45 p.m. this afternoon.

Carbajal was wanted on open warrants charging him with sexual battery, burglary and armed robbery. The 26-year-old defendant, who turned himself in to investigators at the Sheriff’s Office’s district headquarters in DeLand, will be transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach and held on $450,000 bond.
