DEPUTIES
SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT IN DELTONA ATTACK
A
transient with no known permanent address, 18-year-old Thomas Brock, Jr.
already was wanted on open warrants charging him with two counts of
failure to comply with a court order. Volusia County Sheriff’s
deputies stepped up their search for Brock after he was accused of
breaking into an acquaintance’s home in Deltona Friday night and
holding another teen at knifepoint.
Friday’s
incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office at 1:10 a.m. Saturday
morning, but it started at around midnight on Friday. That’s when
17-year-old Sean Killinger said he was home alone at his Parker Avenue
residence, in bed about to go to sleep when he suddenly discovered
someone was in his bedroom. He quickly realized the intruder was Brock,
a former acquaintance. The victim said Brock, who apparently got into
the house by climbing through a bathroom window, threatened him with a
knife. According to the victim, Brock dumped salt and drinks on him and
ran the blade of a knife along his back, neck, shoulders and legs. While
the victim wasn’t seriously hurt, responding deputies observed
scratches and red marks on Killinger’s body.
The
victim said Brock ransacked the house and demanded to know where the
money and valuables were kept, but eventually fled the house with only a
backpack and two cell phones. The victim said he was scared that Brock
was still in the area and didn’t summon help until about 15 minutes
after the attack ended. Responding deputies along with a K-9 unit
canvassed the neighborhood and checked parks and vacant houses in the
area, but weren’t able to locate the suspect. When they find Brock,
deputies plan to charge him with home invasion-robbery, aggravated
battery and violation of an injunction. Brock is 5’8” and about 180
pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on his
whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 860-7030 or
Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS.
Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a
reward of up to $1,000.
