Florida is known far and wide for its fabulous citrus trees, but the citrus greening disease epidemic has made it challenging for homeowners to have long-term success with the finicky fruit.
For those who want to grow fruits at home, there are alternatives, including peaches, nectarines, plums, pomegranates and grapes.
Horticulturist Joe Sewards will explain these options from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 18, at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 W. New York Ave., DeLand. Light refreshments and handouts will be provided.
Reservations are requested and may be made by calling the extension office at 386-822-5778. The $5 program fee can be paid at the door.
