Hotel and Lodging Association honors Ocean Center employee

Sharon Angelastri, administrative coordinator for the county’s Ocean Center, received the Outstanding Employee of the Year award (non-hotel) at the Hotel and Lodging Association of Volusia County’s Ninth Annual Employee Appreciation Lunch  Sept. 10.

Angelastri has been with the Ocean Center since 1988. She was promoted to administrative assistant I in 1991 and administrative coordinator in 2003.

“Sharon has been a staple for the Ocean Center, taking on many responsibilities and assisting every department when needed,” said Angela Daniels, the Ocean Center’s director of sales and marketing. “Sharon is organized, detailed and takes care of many projects throughout the building.”

Angelastri’s responsibilities include executing sales contracts; organizing meeting dates; distributing information and compiling minutes for meetings of the Tourist Development Council; and preparing monthly statistics.

Tim Buckley, an Ocean Center sales manager, also was nominated in the same category.
