The 3rd Annual DeLeon Springs Cleanup
October 24, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

In conjunction with Make a Difference Day, the next DeLeon Springs Cleanup will be October 24, 2009.  The staging location is at the entrance to DeLeon Springs State Park, 601 Ponce DeLeon BV in DeLeon Springs.  Volunteers are asked to report there to register, receive trash bags, plastic gloves, and a road assignment.

Pre-registration is required.

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes and bring work gloves.  Rakes, shovels, and trash grabbers may be helpful but not necessary.  Steps should be taken to protect yourself from the sun.  Bottled water is a good idea to bring.

All trash should be brought to the park entrance where a dumpster will be placed.  Tires, white goods (appliances) and hazardous waste will be piled separately from other trash.

For more information concerning the event, contact Will Hobson at (386) 736-5927 ext. 5823.

On October 25, 2008, 70 volunteers picked up 4.5-tons of trash and other debris in the Community and Springshed of DeLeon Springs.  Participants received a t-shirt.  After the cleanup, participants were provided free admission to DeLeon Springs State Park.
