October 25, 2008 -
8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
In conjunction with Make a Difference Day, the
next DeLeon Springs Cleanup will be
October 25, 2008
.
The staging location is at the entrance to
DeLeon
Springs
State
Park
,
601
Ponce DeLeon Blvd.
in DeLeon Springs.
Volunteers are asked to report there to register, receive trash bags,
plastic gloves, and a road assignment.
Pre-registration
is required.
Volunteers should wear
comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes and bring work gloves.
Rakes, shovels, and trash grabbers may be helpful but not
necessary. Steps should be
taken to protect yourself from the sun.
Bottled water is a good idea to bring.
All trash should be
brought to the park entrance where a dumpster will be placed.
Tires, white goods (appliances) and hazardous waste will be piled
separately from other trash.
For
more information concerning the event, contact
Tom
Carey at (386) 736-5927 ext. 2073.
On
October 27, 2007, 60 volunteers picked up 3.71-tons of trash and other debris in the
Community and Springshed of DeLeon Springs.
Participants received a t-shirt.
After the cleanup, participants were provided free admission to
DeLeon
Springs
State Park
where a complimentary lunch was served.
