Bruno delivers encouraging State of Volusia County Address

Nearly 400 residents, news media representatives and government leaders assembled at the Ocean Center for the annual State of the County address, delivered January 28 by County Chair Frank Bruno. Partnerships, cooperation and joint planning were the themes of the afternoon meeting.
   "What I was trying to say, and what we have proven over the past year, is that united we stand," said Bruno after his presentation, which included a tribute to longtime civic, government and education leader Dr. James Huger.

DBIA adds nonstop flights; Passenger numbers soar

   Business at Daytona Beach International Airport (DBIA) is booming with the addition of AirTran Airways in 2007, US Airways this year and more nonstop flights and available seats from major carriers Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines.
   One of the biggest developments last year was the entry of AirTran Airways into the market, with nonstop service from DBIA. This new low-fare service helped the airport accommodate more than 705,000 passengers in 2007 - the highest number in 10 years.

COMMUNITY RALLIES TO SUPPORT AIRPORT - Air service options at DBIA increased with the return of US Airways February 1. From DBIA, passengers can fly nonstop to major U.S. cities including Atlanta, Cleveland, Charlotte, New York, Baltimore, and can connect to the world from there.
