Chair’s Report: Chair expressed appreciation for public participation. Chair introduced Charlyn Thompson from State Senator Evelyn Lynn’s office and Pete Ayala who was available to interpret in Spanish if necessary.

Minutes: Mary Lou Mirino request amendment to minutes of July 23 to include Alice Johnson on sub-committee to review 2004-2005 application and evaluation elements for scoring. Motion made by Dr. Henry Martin to approve minutes as amended, seconded by Marisa Shirley. Motion passed.

Correspondence: None.

Old Business: Chair reminded Board that today’s meeting is for public participation regarding child care licensure. Board requested public participation be limited to five minutes for each participant.

Public Participation:

Pete Tucker, Lieutenant Fire Inspector, Deltona Fire Department, in favor of licensure.
Lori Casey, Licensed Family Home Day Care Provider, in favor of licensure.
Lynne LaBombard, Child Care Resource Network, in favor of licensure.

New Business: None

Advisory Board Participation: Karen Bourbonnais, Dr. Martin, Alice Johnson, Kymberly Cook and Marisa Shirley expressed appreciation to tonight’s participants. Mary Lou Mirino requested that staff provide copies of articles published regarding licensure issue for the Board. Mary Bruno noted that she will be out of town for August 18 meeting and Mary Lou Mirino will chair meeting.
