Chair’s Report
Chair expressed appreciation to the Board members for their work in
reviewing applications for the additional funding.
Chair recognized Volusia County Career
Development employees in attendance.
Old Business:
A funding chronology for 2002-2003 activity was presented to the
Board. It was the recommendation of the Budget Sub-Committee to increase
agencies with scores of 2.4-2.5 to 10% over 2001 funding level.
Sub-Committee also recommended setting aside a training/contingency.
Motion made to accept Budget Sub-Committee recommendations. Motion
seconded. Motion passed.
New Business:
Primary objective of today’s
meeting was to make allocations to agencies regarding the additional
funding. Staff provided a status report of all applications submitted.
Chair provided instructions for submitting scores to staff. Staff (Reggie
Williams) reminded Board that existing programs have just received
increases and sought direction of Board. Board members Alice Johnson and
Henry Martin expressed concern over existing agencies that submitted
incomplete applications. Motion made to not score applications that are
missing pages, where sections are omitted or incomplete for all agencies.
Motion seconded. Motion passed. Reggie Williams brought to Board’s
attention that new agencies have not had opportunity to attend a workshop.
Motion amended to score new agencies. Motion seconded. Motion passed.
Motion made that for the 2003-2004 application, incomplete applications,
applications that have information omitted will not be considered by the
board. Motion seconded. Motion passed.
