Bill Long represents District 5 on the Volusia County Council.  His district includes DeBary, Deltona, Enterprise, Osteen, Stone Island, and surrounding areas. This is his first term as a County Council member.

Bill is also a certified Law Enforcement Officer and is proud to be a former uniformed road patrol Deputy with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Other public service includes past president of the Chamber of Commerce and former DeBary City Councilman. Bill currently serves as the District 20 Board Member of the Florida Association of Counties, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Board, the Law Library Board of Trustees, myregion.org Board, and the American Heritage River Alliance Board of Directors.

Bill Long is a native Floridian growing up in the shadow of manned space flight on Merritt Island near the Kennedy Space Center. He attended and graduated from the Brevard County Public School system and went on to receive his degree in Mortuary Science from Gupton-Jones College, in Atlanta.

Bill began his career as a junior in high school and has spent twenty-five years as a funeral service professional. He owns two funeral homes, a crematory, and a mortuary related shipping business in DeBary and Ormond Beach. He also manages and operates the historic Enterprise Community Cemetery in Enterprise. He employs residents from communities throughout Volusia County.
