VOLUSIA TAX ROLL APPROVED – The state has certified
Volusia’s 2005 tax roll. The total value of all properties is $43.6
billion, an increase of 23 percent from the 2004 tax roll. There are now
317,395 parcels on the roll. New construction in the last year added $1
billion to the roll. The tax roll is used by local taxing authorities to
calculate property tax rates. Truth In Millage (TRIM) notices will be
mailed to property owners in mid-August. The TRIM notices list new
valuations and notify property owners of the tax rates being proposed by
local taxing authorities.
JUNE TRAFFIC INCREASES AT DAYTONA BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
-- Passenger traffic at Daytona Beach International Airport was up 2.3
percent in June in comparison with the same month last year. Airport
Director Dennis McGee noted that June traffic numbers continue a
positive trend that started in late 2002. However, more airline capacity
is needed if traffic gains are to continue. McGee also said the Airport
this month has made several air service proposals to encourage more air
service at Daytona Beach International Airport. The County-operated
airport recorded 58,765 incoming and outgoing passengers during June.
This compares to the 57,451 travelers recorded in June last year. For
the past 12 months, 638,546 travelers have flown in and out of the
Airport, a 4.5 percent increase over the same 12-month period for the
prior year when the Airport handled 610,787 total passengers.
