IMPORTANT TIPS AS GENERAL ELECTION APPROACHES

Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall asks voters to pay attention to the following tips as the General Election approaches:

Running out of time
Worried about your absentee ballot not making it to the Supervisor of Elections office by Election Day? There is an alternative solution. Completed absentee ballots can be accepted at any of the early voting sites through November 4. Early voting sites are located at the Deltona, New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach Regional Libraries and the Supervisor of Elections office located at 125 W. New York Avenue, DeLand. Hours and days of operation of all early voting sites are 8am to 4pm Monday through Saturday. Absentee ballots must either be dropped off at early voting sites by 4 pm on November 4 or at the Supervisor of Elections office in Deland by 7pm Election Day November 7 in order to be counted. Please ensure you have signed the voter’s certificate on the back of the absentee envelope.

Second changes
If you have made a mistake on your absentee ballot and would like another one, or you have decided not to vote by absentee, you can bring your ballot to any of the early voting sites when in operation or at your designated precinct on Election Day. In both instances the ballot will be cancelled and you will be given the opportunity to request another one or choose to vote by another method. Ballots returned to precincts cannot be counted, but can be cancelled and the voter will be issued another ballot to vote.

Identification cards
It is not necessary to have in your possession a voter information card in order to vote. Voters are asked to please bring photo and signature ID to the polls or early voting sites. If you do not bring both signature and picture ID, you will be allowed to vote a provisional ballot. Most widely used forms of identification for voting is a Florida Drivers License or a Florida State ID card because it satisfies both the signature and picture requirement.
