MISSPELLING OF
CANDIDATE NAME
Upon reviewing the absentee
ballots that arrived at the Department of Elections for the January
29, 2008 Presidential Preference Primary election, Supervisor of
Elections Ann McFall announces the discovery of the misspelling of
one of the names of a Presidential candidate.
Senator Barack Obama was misspelled on approximately 2000 absentee
ballots that have been mailed to voters with the incorrect spelling.
The name on the ballot reads “Barak Obama” and the name should read
“Barack Obama”.
This does not affect any ballots at the early voting locations, any
ballots at precinct locations on Election Day or any future absentee
ballots from this day forward.
Sample ballots for this upcoming election along with polling place
locations will be advertised this weekend in local papers.
