SUPERVISOR MCFALL
ANNOUNCES MOCK ELECTION
With two major elections just around the corner, the Department
of Elections is in full gear and planning a dry run of the August
26, 2008 election and they need assistance. The Department will be
holding a mock election and need voters to come vote!
This election will take place on Thursday, May 15 from 10 am – 2pm
at the Historic Courthouse in Deland, 125 W. New York Avenue. The
“precinct” will be located on the first floor, conference room 2 of
the courthouse. Many people may know this room as it is Deland’s
early voting center during election season.
Due to a major upgrade to the elections management system,
Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall thought a mock election playing
out from beginning to end would be a good test of equipment and
procedures.
The process of going through each and every step of election day is
very methodical, but apparently the creation of the ballot has
become a jovial event. The ballot is not similar to the August 26
election at all. But if you want to know who is on the ballot,
you’ll have to see it for yourself.
All participants should bring photo and signature ID and be a
registered voter in the state of Florida.
