IMPORTANT PRIMARY ELECTION UPDATES
Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall announces the office hours at
the Department of Elections in Deland will be extended until
8:00 pm on Monday, July 28, 2008, registration deadline for the
upcoming Primary election scheduled for August 26, 2008.
“I would like to give every opportunity for those registering for the
first time to be able to do so by the deadline. And since this
upcoming election is a primary election, voters wanting to make
party affiliation changes must also do so by the same
registration deadline, July 28, 2008.” stated Ms. McFall.
The Supervisor’s office is not the only location in Volusia
County that will accept your completed application on the
registration deadline. In cooperation with the Volusia County
Library System, every public library in the county is set up to
accept applications and can receive them up to the close of
business on Monday, July 28, 2008. Many Volusia County
libraries are also open extended hours on Monday, July 28,
2008.
Please contact your local library location for specific hours of
operation.
Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall also announces that Joed
Denizac, candidate for the West Volusia Hospital Authority,
Group A Seat 1 has submitted a letter of withdrawal to the
Supervisor of Elections office.
Since the ballots have already been printed for the August 26,
2008 Primary Election, a message is going to be included in all
absentee ballots that will be mailed to voters beginning next
week. On Election Day, and at all Early Voting locations, the
voting equipment will be programmed to not count any of the
votes cast for Mr. Denizac. This procedure is in accordance
with a recommendation from the Florida State Division of
Elections.
This deletion will leave three candidates in the race for West
Volusia Hospital Authority, Group A, Seat 1.
