VOLUSIA COUNTY TROPICAL STORM FAY #13
• FLAGLER COUNTY EVACUEES: Residents in
Flagler County with pets who live in manufactured homes or
low-lying areas and/or feel unsafe in their homes, can seek
shelter at Volusia County’s people and pet shelter at the
Volusia County Fairgrounds, Tommy Lawrence building, 3150 E.
S.R. 44, DeLand. Residents seeking shelter should bring their
own bedding and supplies. Also, pets should be in crates.
• AIRPORT: All commercial flights are
operating as scheduled at Daytona Beach International Airport
with the exception of the Delta Air Lines flights that were
scheduled to depart for Atlanta at 7:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. this
morning and a 9:45 a.m. arrival from Atlanta. Enroute weather
delays may be a factor during the day, but there are no
cancellations. See the full flight schedule at

• EARLY VOTING: All early voting sites in
Volusia County will be closed Thursday, Aug. 21, with the
exception the Historic Courthouse, 125 W. New York Ave., Deland.
The hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• SANDBAGS:
o On Tuesday, Volusia County’s Public Works
Department provided 1,000 sandbags to residents. Free sand and
sandbags are available to county residents until dusk today.
Residents should bring shovels and be prepared to fill and
transport the bags. There will be a 25-bag limit per household.
Garbage bags can be used to replace sandbags if supplies have
been exhausted.

• The City of Daytona Beach has sandbags for
residents available its public works facility, 950 Bellevue Ave.
Residents are asked to fill their own bags and bring their own
shovels.
• The City of Daytona Beach Shores has sand
bags for city residents behind City Hall in the Racquet Club
parking lot.
• The City of Edgewater has sand piles at the
Rotary Park (corner of West Park Avenue and Carol Ann Drive),
Whistle Stop Park (Roberts Road, across from Indian River
Elementary School) and Fire Station 57, 2628 Hibiscus Drive.
There will be no sand bags available. Residents are advised to
bring their own shovels and sandbags (commercially available) or
double bag the sand with heavy-duty trash bags.
• The City of Holly Hill has sand and
bags available for residents at its public works department, 456
LPGA Blvd.
• The City of Ormond Beach has a sandbag
distribution center at 501 N. Orchard St. For more information,
call (386) 676-3220.
• The City of South Daytona has sandbags
available at its public works facility, 1770 Segrave St., until
4:30 p.m.
• The Town of Ponce Inlet has sand and
sandbags available to residents at its public works building,
4875 S. Peninsula Drive, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. After 4 p.m., sand and
bags will be available at the fire station, 4680 S. Peninsula
Drive. Residents must use their own shovel and show proof of

• The City of Port Orange has sandbags
available at the city warehouse, 500 Oak St. (just east of the
Florida East Coast railroad track). There is a limit of 25 bags
per vehicle. Dirt is available at Fire Station 71, 4200
Ridgewood Ave.; Fire Station 72, 5839 Trailwood Drive; Fire
Station 73, 1090 City Center Blvd; and Fire Station 74, 6701
Airport Road. Residents must bring shovels to fill their own
bags. Double-lined trash bags can be used in place of sandbags.
• CLOSINGS:
o The circuit and county courts in Flagler
and Volusia counties will close at noon today and reopen at 8
a.m., Friday, Aug. 22, unless conditions change. Courts in
Putnam and St. Johns counties remain open at this time.
o The City of Edgewater will close its
offices at noon today. City officials will make a decision later
today if they will be closed Thursday. There will be no trash or
recycle pickup today for Edgewater residents. Residents can call
the city’s Citizen Information Center at (386) 424-2400. Updated
information also is available on the city’s web site,
www.cityofedgewater.org
o The City of Port Orange’s Adult Activity
Center, 4790 Ridgewood Ave., is closed today. Citizens can call
(386) 506-5851 for information on when the center will reopen.
The boat ramps at Causeway Park are closed. Citizens are
encouraged to watch pogTV channel 199 found on Bright House

o Volusia County’s Robert L. Strickland Gun
Range, 1180 Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach, is closed today and
Thursday.
o The following centers in Ormond Beach will
be closed Wednesday and Thursday: South Ormond Neighborhood
Center and Nova Community Center, Ormond Beach Sports Complex,
Nova Community Park, Nova Gymnastic Center, Ormond Beach Tennis
Center, the Casements, Senior Center and Performing Arts Center.
• MEETING CANCELLATIONS:
o Ormond Beach’s Neighborhood Improvement
Advisory Board has canceled its meeting scheduled for 7 p.m.
today.
• CITY OF SOUTH DAYTONA
o Garbage collection will be on a normal
schedule Thursday. Residents are asked to not co-mingle yard
waste with household garbage. Waste Pro has scheduled an extra
yard waste collection for South Daytona residents for Saturday,
Aug. 23, followed by the normal yard waste collection on Monday,
Aug. 25. Residents are asked to not place yard waste piles near
utility boxes, mail boxes or fire hydrants. Small yard waste
items should be bagged or containerized. Recycling is on the
normal schedule for Monday, Aug. 25.
