VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY APPROACHING

Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall asks voters to note the upcoming voter registration deadline for the Presidential Preference Primary. The book closing date for the upcoming January 29, 2008 election is December 31, 2007.

By Florida law, a person must be registered at least 29 days prior to an election, in order to be eligible to vote in that election. Party affiliation designations or changes must also be completed by the voter registration deadline, December 31, 2007.

Registration applications are available at all Volusia County libraries, city halls, post offices, chambers of commerce, driver license bureaus, agencies that provide public assistance, offices that serve persons with disabilities and centers for independent living, locations where hunting, fishing or trapping licenses or permits are sold and many Volusia County Government offices including the Supervisor of Elections office. Registration applications can also be downloaded from the Department of Elections website at www.volusia.org/elections/reginfo.htm.
