SUPERVISOR MCFALL REMINDS VOTERS ABOUT PRIMARY ELECTIONS

As we approach the Presidential Preference Primary on January 29, 2008, Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall reminds voters that Florida is a closed primary state. By Florida law, party affiliation designations and changes must be completed by the registration deadline, December 31, 2007.

“In a Primary Election in Florida, a voter is entitled to vote the official ballot of the political party designated in a voter’s registration and no other.” states Supervisor McFall.

Party designations and changes must be done on a Florida Voter Registration Application and are available at all Volusia County libraries, city halls, post offices, chambers of commerce, driver license bureaus, agencies that provide public assistance, offices that serve persons with disabilities and centers for independent living, locations where hunting, fishing or trapping licenses or permits are sold and many Volusia County Government offices including the Supervisor of Elections office.  You can also download an application from the Department of Elections website at www.volusia.org/elections/reginfo.htm.
