Lighthouse Point Park Dune Planting
The Atlantic High School special needs students, in cooperation with the Atlantic High Horticulture Department, University of Florida IFAS, and Volusia County Environmental Management, recently planted several hundred coastal dune plants at Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet. The project was funded through a grant from the Volusia County Tree Replacement Trust Account, which provides small grants for the planting of native trees and plants in Volusia County. The project was a great success and the students learned basic horticultural skills as well as the value of our fragile coastal ecosystem.
