Learn Online with
Florida Yards and Neighborhoods

Welcome to a free course and certification available to any interested Volusia County resident

Florida Yards and Neighborhoods is a public education and outreach program designed to help you create and maintain landscapes that enhance your community and protect Florida’s natural environment. It is a basic course for non-professionals. The University of Florida Volusia County Extension-sponsored Learn by Mail (now offered as Learn Online) program emphasizes nine major principles (see the course materials table on this page - link above):

This popular class was overfilled with students when taught at the Extension Service, so we're bringing it to your home through your computer, without the fees.

It's free! And easy!
All forms are available on this web page, and you can fill out all forms except the course evaluation electronically. After each of the nine short chapters (principles), take the chapter's test and return them all by mail upon completion for your certification. (the course registration and the pre-survey can be e-mailed to help you start today). Then impress your neighbors with your Florida Yard know-how, or just relax with the knowledge that your landscape is protecting the environment by conserving water, safely managing pests, etc.
