Quarterly Highlights
- The Volusia County Fair and Youth
Show was a great success for Volusia County 4-H. Students, leaders,
volunteers, agents and staff all participated.
- Volusia County 4-H placed 2nd in the
Fish Memorial Hospital’s ‘Festival of Trees” competition.
- Five pesticide training programs
were conducted for pesticide applicators.
- A horticulture maintenance class was
attended by 68 individuals.
- We began a new USDA grant program
titled Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program which provides
nutrition education to clientele.
- A true field demonstration on health
related cattle management was conducted for area cattleman.
- The Florida Ranch Horse Club is
continuing to grow in popularity.
- The WDSC-TV Gardeners Hotline show
is continuing to be a great success.
- The 40 hour Master Naturalist
Freshwater Wetlands class had 19 individuals certified as Master
Naturalist.
- An effort to educate homeowners on
Laurel Wilt Disease included three TV spots, two radio programs,
four newspaper articles and an educational program given at City
Island Library.
- Four 1st. Time Home Buyer Education
classes and two Homeowner Maintenance classes were conducted.
- Two Energy Efficient Homes programs
were conducted for the City of Deltona.
- These programs also aired on the
City of Deltona’s TV site.
- Two Casual Gardening classes were
conducted.
