Fit Firefighter
All Volusia County Fire Services firefighters are required to complete the Physical Agility Test in a time of 7 minutes and 45 seconds or less. However, completing it within the more competitive age and gender specific times required to obtain the desirable Fit Firefighter status has been a fitness incentive and motivator for many VCFS members. In addition to earning the title of Fit Firefighter, those firefighters receive workout clothes emblazoned with the words Fit Firefighter announcing they have achieved the coveted status. Testing for Fit Firefighter is optional. Following are Fit Firefighter minimum times for completion in minutes based on age and gender:
