Mother's Day Tragedy
A passenger car and Jeep Cherokee collided
while traveling on Interstate 4 in Volusia County. After the initial
collision, a semi tractor trailer crashed into the two vehicles as a mini
van ran into the semi tractor trailer. Two persons were pronounced dead on
the scene and a third later died in the hospital.
EVAC transported four patients by ground to
area hospitals while two other patients were transported to hospitals via
helicopter. Volusia County Fire Services responded to the scene with three
engines, two squads, two Battalion Commanders and one Division Chief. In
addition, four EVAC units and two helicopters were on scene. Interstate 4
remained closed for about four hours.
