Lightning sparks Pierson brush fire
A lightning strike sparked a brush fire that grew to 40 acres before containment on Washington Avenue in Pierson in August. The fire was in a bay head/sandhill pine mix. E44, T44, B44, BA43, T41, B41, BAT 40 and three Department of Forestry (DOF) tractors were assigned to the fire. Volusia County Fire Services assisted DOF over the next week with mop up of the fire.
