On February 28, 2008, crews responded to a routine powerlines down
call. Upon arrival, they assessed the situation and realized that a
powerline had fallen on a Lincoln Navigator, which was on fire and
located on Citra Road. Fire crews were delayed in extinguishing the fire
due to the electrical hazard but were busy keeping nearby homes and
vehicles protected. After the power company gave notification that the
area was de-energized, the fire was extinguished. Damage was estimated
at $20,000. Stations 41 and 46 responded to the scene as well as
Battalion 40 and Progress Energy.
