Engine 17 and DBFD respond to single vehicle accident

While en route to training on May 30, 2007 the crew of Engine 17 became the first responders as they came upon a single vehicle accident. The SUV in the accident struck a large tree and rolled coming to a rest on the driver's side. The single patient received numerous injuries that required immediate transport to Halifax Medical Center by EVAC with trauma alert status. With Daytona Beach Fire Department establishing command, crews from both agencies jointly worked to ensure the scene was safe, provide medical care, extricate the patient and transfer care to EVAC for immediate transport.
