State Road 44 fatality
On the afternoon of July 5, 2008 at State Road 44 and Samsula Drive, a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles took the life of a Volusia County man. The two vehicles had been traveling in opposite directions on State Road 44 prior to the collision. The pick-up truck involved in the motor vehicle accident was pulling a boat at the time of the crash. The car involved in the crash initially rested on its hood and was later turned over by the wrecker crew. VCFS Engines 12, 23, Fire Police and Battalion 20, New Smyrna Beach Fire Tower 51 and Battalion 52, Port Orange Engine 74, EVAC, and VCSO Air 1 responded to the scene.
