Management Services assists the Fire Services’ Director in the administration and management of data and record keeping processes and systems in order to provide recommendations for efficiencies of the service. Functions for which Management Services is responsible include the following:
- Identify efficiency improvement opportunities and develop improvement measures and estimates
- Identify new cost saving measures for staff review and recommendation
- Lead the identification and use of alternative methods to facilitate scheduling and the effective monitoring and improvement efforts of leave impact and personnel services related costs
- Examine alternate service delivery models for improved efficiency, effectiveness, and cost savings
- Develop a technology plan for VCFS that includes the utilization of AVL, MDT’s, GPS, GIS, Telestaff, etc.
- Lead the effective implementation of Fire House, CAD Analyst, and ADAM software to assist in improving the ability to identify and implement improved service delivery methodologies and/or models
- Monitor the effectiveness of AVL and priority dispatch
- Supervise and manage the Records Management functions
- Assist in preparation of annual Fire/Rescue contracts for various municipalities and provide oversight of this function
- Coordinate data/mapping projects with GIS as required
- Oversight of a Hazard and Risk Assessment, and Standard of Cover Plan program
Management Services is responsible for providing facilities, services and materials in support of Fire Services. Functions for which Management Services is responsible for also include the following:
- Oversight of all supply chain management and distribution of goods for Fire Services
- Oversight of all assets, inventory control and records for Fire Services
- Oversight of all capital construction projects for VCFS and fleet services functions
- ISO (fire insurance rating) program oversight
- Fire hydrant maintenance and records oversight
- Radio communications and dispatching (Sheriff's Office Fire/EMS Emergency Communication Center liaison)
