SAMPLING CREWS
Sampling crews incorporate one FDEP/FMRI staff and 2-4 volunteer individuals from other affiliations. Some of the support personnel have fisheries experience prior to assisting with this project. Others are biologists in other disciplines, students working towards a degree in the biological sciences, or public citizens with an exceptional interest in Florida's fishery. Regardless of their background, each individual is trained in the standardized methods used by the FDEP/FMRI - statewide Fisheries Independent Monitoring Program. Many of these individuals have been assisting the Volusia County Survey since it began in 1992.
