Gulf Flounder
Paralichthys albigutta

Gulf flounder can be fished in nearshore and estuarine waters from North Carolina to Texas and are highly prized by commercial and recreational fishermen. Adults spend part of each year within the estuary. Then, beginning in fall and continuing through winter, they move offshore to spawn (Gilbert, 1986). Although newly settled juveniles can be found in the estuary as early as December, the majority of recruitment in Volusia County, FL, occurs between March and May.
