(pdf format)
Fleet Management's primary objective is to control the overall cost of operating and
maintaining the County fleet of vehicles and equipment, to maintain vehicles and equipment
in a manner that extends their useful life, to control the growth in size of the fleet, to
standardize the composition of the fleet and to accurately budget for maintenance and
replacement costs.
A vehicle replacement program has been developed which determines the replacement dates
for vehicles. The criteria for replacement include age, usage and maintenance costs. In
general, vehicles are replaced at six years and/or 100,000 miles. All new purchases for
vehicles are part of the budget cycle and are coordinated through Fleet Management for
recommendation.
