How to Use WINZIP or FREEZIP
The files available for download from this website are compressed using a process not commonly available on Windows computers. As a result, if you do not have WINZIP or FREEZIP on your computer, you probably will not be able to use our data. This page will tell you how to get your trial copy of WINZIP or free copy of FREEZIP and use it to decompress our data.
First, download a copy of WINZIP or FREEZIP, if you haven't already. What you really download is an executable file. You should run this file either by double-clicking on its icon in Windows Explorer, or by selecting Run... from the Start menu. Doing this will install the software package on your computer. Winzip is $29.00 but has a trial use period for 21 days. Freezip works basically the same way for free.
After you have downloaded some of the compressed files from this website, just double-click the file(s) to decompress and follow the directions.
Once the decompression process has completed, the Shapefile you chose to download will be unzipped and ready to use in your GIS.
