Volusia County Citizens Academy

The Volusia County’s Citizens Academy is a hands-on awareness program designed to educate citizens about county government operations. The class meets once a week for 12 weeks at various county facilities, including the Sheriff’s Communications and Emergency Operations Center, Tomoka Landfill, Volusia County Branch Jail, Marine Science Center, Ocean Center and Daytona Beach International Airport. Topics include growth management, community services, public protection, property assessments and budgets. There is no charge for the program, but applicants must be Volusia County residents and at least 21 years old.

There will be no class in 2016. Class dates for 2017 have not yet been determined.
