Mission: To ensure Daytona Beach International Airport provides and promotes safe, efficient, convenient and economically self-sustaining air transportation facilities, responsive to airline and community needs, while supporting and promoting the area's economic growth and development.

What they are doing to be more “green”

  • Installing 21 variable speed drives to air handlers for energy efficiency.
  • Installing variable speed drive on the cooling tower for energy efficiency.
  • Recycling fluorescent lights and ballasts for reduced consumption.
  • Planning refurbishment and upgrading of cooling tower for energy and water efficiency.
  • Where applicable, installing electronic ballasts for energy efficiency.
  • Implementing the use of Micro Lite software to control lighting for greater efficiency.
  • Using energy management software to control indoor environment in the terminal building thereby reducing energy use of indoor cooling systems.
  • Using recycled asphalt when constructing the perimeter service road.
  • Planting native plants around stormwater ponds to filter out pollutants and protect water quality.
