Enterprise Local Area Plan
Background
On the evening of September 19, 2001, a meeting was held between Enterprise residents and County representatives at the Methodist Childrens Home.  The meeting provided an opportunity for the County to present information to the residents, and for the residents to provide feedback.  Approximately 200 residents were in attendance.

The County presented information on the subjects of annexation and Municipal Service Districts (MSD's).  Also presented was a program outlining five planning options to protect the community's resources and identity.  The five options presented were:

  1. Designate an Historic District
  2. Create an Overlay Zone
  3. Implement Scenic Corridor Policies
  4. Develop Rural Protection Plan
  5. Adopt Joint Planning Agreements

At the conclusion of the meeting a decision was made to launch a major planning initiative for the Enterprise Community.  The five options presented at the meeting would serve as the base work plan for the initiative.

Local Area Plan
The project is to unify the work plan under a "Local Area Plan" to be adopted as part of the Volusia County Comprehensive Plan.  There are currently seven local area plans provided for in the Volusia County Comprehensive Plan; these plans recognize special circumstances and issues unique to a particular area.  Volusia County staff is working on a local area plan for the unincorporated Community of Enterprise.
