Outings are sponsored by Volusia
County’s Environmental Management Division. Space is limited, and
registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring water and
insect spray and wear comfortable clothes and walking or hiking shoes.

Paddling tour:
Hickory Bluff Preserve
9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012
Master naturalist Susan Young will lead a leisurely paddling tour of the
St. Johns River. The tour will begin at the preserve, and paddlers
will observe shoreline plants and animals along the way. Bring your own
kayak or canoe. A life jacket and whistle are required. Meet at 598
Guise Road, Osteen.
Guided hike: Hickory Bluff Prserve
9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, 2012
County employees Randall Sleister and David Griffis will lead an
exploratory hike through the preserve. These soil, plant and ecology
experts will point out plant communities and explain why plants live in
specific habitats. Meet at 598 Guise Road, Osteen.
